10 Ways to Make Holiday Shopping Fun in Humboldt CA’s Redwood Coast

Holiday shopping can be fun at these 10 great Humboldt County events – so plan to get away to The Redwood Riverwalk Hotel, relax, and get some of your shopping done in Fortuna, Ferndale, and Eureka. You’ll find handcrafted and original gifts, plus lots of special shopping events, artisan craft fairs, and festivals in Humboldt, California’s Redwood Coast.

#1 Taste of the Holidays in Arcata
Thursday, November 21, 2019, from 5 – 8 pm
You can sample local specialty foods and locally crafted beer and spirits from over 30 vendors and bid for things at their Dutch auction. Bring a toy for Toys for Tots to be entered into a prize drawing. Tickets are $30 per person including wine/beer/spirits tastings. Additional tasting tickets may be purchased, free non-alcoholic beverages are available.
#2 Holiday Craft Faire  in Fortuna
Saturday, November 23, 2019, from 10 am – 4 pm and Sunday November 24, 2019, from 10 am – 3 pm
River Lodge Conference Center near The Redwood in Fortuna. Admission is free.
#3  17th Annual Snowball Drop in Eureka
Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:30 am at the Gazebo (2nd and F Streets) 
Shoppers can try to catch 600+ snowballs (ping pong balls) fired from a snowball cannon. Each snowball has the name of a Main Street business and a prize number. Prizes include $5-$25 gift certificates, free merchandise, discounts up to 50%, and BOGO offers. #4 Victorian Holidays in Ferndale
Friday Night street fairs on historic Main Street from 5 – 9 pm each of the four Fridays before Christmas
Each Friday has a special theme: Hospitality Night (November 30), Old-Fashioned Christmas (December 7), Cowboy/Cowgirl Christmas (December 14) and Hawaiian Christmas (December 21).
# 5 39th Humboldt Artisans Crafts & Music Festival in Eureka
December 6, 2019 (noon – 9 pm), December 7 , 2019 (10 am – 7 pm), and December 8, 2019 (10 am – 6 pm) at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds
Victorian storefronts decorated for holidays with green evergreen swags and red bowsThis annual festival brings together over 100 craft displays featuring local and regional artists, plus live music on 4 stages throughout the festival. There’s shopping, food, fun, and holiday cheer. Admission: adults $3, children and seniors free. For free adult admission, bring a toy for the Humboldt Bay Fire Department Toy Drive.
# 6 Holiday Artisan Sale at Morris Graves Museum of Art  in Eureka
December 7, 2019 (noon – 9 pm), and December 8, 2019 (noon – 5 pm)
The Humboldt Arts Council’s sale features a wide variety of fine art, including ceramics, jewelry, photography, fine art prints and original paintings by local artists.
# 7 Fortuna Downtown Open House in Fortuna
Friday, December 13, 2019 (5:30 – 8 pm)
The Fortuna Downtown merchants host this annual shopping event with holiday entertainment, refreshments, and specials for shoppers. At 7 pm the same evening, shoppers downtown can watch Fortuna’s Al Gray Electric Lighted Parade
# 8  14th Loleta Holiday Craft Fair is presented by the Wiyot Tribe in Loleta
December 14-15, 2019, from 9 am – 4 pm at the Loleta
  Fireman’s Pavilion
Over 60 local artisans, craftsmen and makers will feature traditional crafts, modern fashion, and artwork.
# 9  Stocking Stuffer Boutique in Fortuna
December 14, 2019, from 10 am – 3 pm at the Gene Lucas Community Center
Works by local artisans and crafters will be featured.

Why not do less shopping online this holiday season, and have fun instead shopping at the wonderful variety of shops, fairs and festivals you’ll find in Humboldt County?
