Get ready for the 16th Annual Hops in Humboldt Beer Festival in Fortuna, California on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Knee Deep Brewing Company, Auburn, CA, was a recent winner of both this people’s choice award and the ‘beer geeks’ Best of Hops Award. Other award winners have included Six Rivers Brewery from McKinleyville (Sponsor’s Choice Award), Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery (Mayor’s Choice Award) and Gyppo Ale Mill, “California’s Most Remote Brewery” on the Lost Coast (Best of Humboldt Award). Hops in Humboldt even recognizes the best of ciders and root beers with their Non-Beer Award, given in the past to Humboldt Cider Company from Eureka.
Stay cool in the shade – the Fortuna festival features a large tented beer area and offers free bottled water all afternoon. Test your skills at Hops Games like Beer Bottle Ring Toss and Drink-O, where winners take home prizes like hats, beer beads, and Hops in Humboldt t-shirts. Wander among arts and crafts vendors offering everything from locally made jewelry to hand blown glass and artisan clothing while you enjoy the live music and foods from Indian tacos to local grass fed tri-tip sandwiches.
