2019 Redwood Coast Music Festival May 9 –12 in Eureka CA

closeup of man's right hand fingers playing brass trumpet at night with red light behindThe 2019 Redwood Coast Music Festival will feature 46 different bands and solo artists and over 100 sets of live music from May 9 –12, 2019, in Eureka. Get ready for the sounds of great blues, swing, and soul, styles of jazz from New Orleans and Western to just plain Hot, plus R&B, Americana, Cajun, Zydeco, and more!

Special performances will showcase the Redwood Coast BLUES and Western Swing All Stars. Featured Guest Artists at the Music Festival will include Charlie Baty, Curtis Salgado, Elana James, and Wee Willie Walker.

Here are just some of the other highlights:

  • Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 7:30 – 10:00 pm: Kickoff Dance at the Adorni Center, will feature two sets by Hot Baked Goods with guest appearances by Clint Baker and Sam Rocha. This San Francisco jazz band, one of the best dance bands on the West Coast, will keep everyone dancing to their tunes from the 1920s and 30s. The Kickoff Dance will be preceded by A Taste of Main Street from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. This separate event in Old Town Eureka will offer a chance to sample food from 24 local restaurants and food producers.
  • Friday, May 10, 2019, at 1:30 pm: Opening Ceremonies at the Adorni Center will feature two outstanding jazz bands: Cornet Chop Suey and Cocuzzi Courtet with The Au Brothers. (Free and open to the public)
  • Saturday May 11, 2019 from midnight until 4:00 pm: Dance Contests night and day! Bands will be providing music at Eureka Municipal Auditorium for Dance Contests as well as the open dance floor between contests. Listen and dance to Stompy Jones, Hot Baked Goods Jazz Band with Clint Baker, plus Sam Rocha & His Really Cool Friends.
  • Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 3:30 – 5:30 pm: The Music Festival Grand Finale brings everyone together at Municipal Auditorium for a “7 band non-stop party.” Headliners Clint Baker’s Jazz Band, On The Levee Jazz Band, Dave Stuckey & The Hot House Gang, Tom Rigney & Flambeau, Gator Nation, Cornet Chop Suey, and Stompy Jones will “mix it up, play back-to-back, and jam in this rollicking show”.
  • Other Festival Events on Sunday include the Free Community Gospel & Concert featuring the 60 voice Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Adorni Center and two After Parties. One After Party will be held at the Red Lion Hotel from 3:30 – 7:30 pm; the other will be at the Eagle House Ballroom from 6:15 – 10:00 pm.

All six Redwood Coast Music Festival venues in Eureka have space for dancing, bars, and food service. They range in size from the Eureka Municipal Auditorium, Adorni Center and Sequoia Center to spaces with a more intimate jazz or blues club atmosphere at The Inn at 2nd & C, Morris Graves Museum, and Red Lion Hotel.
