It’s the Humboldt County Fair at the Fairgrounds in Ferndale, CA, from Wednesday, August 23 – Monday, September 4, 2017. That means almost two weeks of great entertainment and fun, just 15 minutes from The Redwood Riverwalk Hotel in Fortuna, CA. Every day is packed with all kinds of all kinds of exhibits, horse racing, great music, food, and much more. For fans of the Food Network, special guest Guy Fieri will judge the Surf and Turf BBQ Contest on Thursday, August 24!
 
In its 121st year, this Humboldt tradition knows how to celebrate both youth and adult achievements, showcasing all kinds of prize-winning exhibits from baked goods to dairy, wood working to fine arts to floraculture, and livestock from beef to swine. The first week highlights youth livestock entries, with adult/open entries the second week. There’s musical entertainment every day, plus carnival rides, horse races, and vendors of all kinds. The Main Stage features Chicago Boyz in three performances each day August 23 – 27, then the XPOGO Stunt Team from August 29 – September 4, 2017. Catch the Cortes Aerial Show on the Midway Lawn during one of their three performances every day of the Fair. At Friendship Square, acts from a Flamingo guitarist to the Ukelaliens, and Irish Dancers to Belly Dancers will perform at different times.
 
If you’re a fan of horse racing, you can watch live races every half hour on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of each week, beginning in mid-afternoon. There’s a golf tournament on Tuesday, August 29, Bull-O-Rama on Thursday, August 31, and Wool Growers Day with a Fleece to Fabric Demonstration Sunday, September 3.
