Crowd of people sitting and standing at the base of two tall redwoods, some people with glowing white lightsThursday, August 3 to Sunday, August 6, 2017, Reggae On The River®  took place in Humboldt County for its 33rd year. “One of the world’s iconic Reggae music festivals”, brought the best of Reggae to the banks of California’s Eel River this summer. Surrounded by the beautiful redwoods, fans were treated to the best of reggae’s world famous songwriters, singers and musicians – from Assassin (aka Agent Sasco) to Yogoman Burning Band.

Reggae On The River® was one of the oldest and most important events celebrating reggae in the U.S. “More than a music festival, it is a powerful cultural idea with such great social impact in regard of the environment, tolerance, respect and awareness of the entire community.” (www.reggaecolombia.com). Proceeds benefited the Mateel Community Center, a non-profit community organization supporting social, educational and artistic service programs in the region, as well as other international organizations such as the Alpha Boys School & Lil Raggamuffin Summer Camp in Jamaica and in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
