Live Music Nearby at Spring Fortuna Concert Series 

gray frame around large treble clef with black text: “Fortuna Consert Series”The Fortuna Concert Series offers eight live musical performances each year, bringing instrumental music, vocalists, and dance to the North Coast of California. From September through May, you can enjoy concerts by nationally and internationally known performers as well as professional musicians from the region.  Offerings feature both individual artists and groups, and range from classical to jazz, ethnic to American folk, and vocal to instrumental.  Concerts are held at the Fortuna Monday Club, a comfortable, intimate theater, less than a five minute drive from The Redwood Riverwalk Hotel.

Daniela Mineva 
Winner of many international and national piano competitions, she has been described by the New York Times as a “vibrant and expressive performer who could steal the show in every concert”. She appears regularly as a solo artist, chamber musician, and orchestral soloist in addition to commissioning works by many young composers and offering master classes in venues throughout the US, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia.

Annika Bäckström 
Songs of the Winds of the North features Scandinavian vocal music, only one aspect of her lyric soprano, coloratura soprano and mezzo soprano repertoire that ranges from art songs to opera in 11 languages.  Recently relocated to this area, her recitals and performance seminars have delighted audiences throughout the US and Sweden.

Grupo Nueva Ilusion
This seven member ensemble returns to the Redwood Coast with their concert of traditional Mexican dance music. Chuy Soza and Abel Lopez on drums and percussion, Marcos Licona and Francisco Matias on keyboard, Edgar Licona on bass and vocalist Pedro Matias will have your feet tapping to their Latin rhythms.

Winema Winds
This small auxiliary ensemble of the Scotia Band will present an homage to some of America’s most popular tunes from the classics to the swing bands of the 1940’s to a 1960’s tribute featuring vocalists Gloria Gold and Liz Souza. Sharon Holt on flute, Michelle Brown on clarinet, Carrol Newquist on French horn, Steve Brown on Alto Sax, Domenic Bongio on Tenor Sax, and Crystal Porter on Bassoon comprise this non-traditional woodwind sextet.
