Attention seafood lovers! January is a quiet time to explore the Redwoods, but you’ll find plenty of action in nearby Eureka, CA, as boats unload their bountiful catches of Dungeness Crab. January’s highlight is the Eureka Crab Celebration that “shell-abrates” the crab and the North Coast’s crabbing industry.
Festivities begin Friday night with Round 1 of the Crab Crawl, a self-guided tour of crab-themed food and drink specials in Downtown and Old Town Eureka’s restaurants and bars.

Saturday morning, you can work up an appetite for more crab with the 5K Crab Run (or walk) along Eureka’s waterfront.

Saturday evening, it’s a Crab Movie! See Roger Corman’s 1957 classic “Attack of the Crab Monsters”.
