We purchased the property over 10+ years ago as a Holiday inn Express and took it independent six and half years ago. On the iconic Redwood Highway (Hwy 101) and near giant trees, rugged California coast and national parks, we saw an opportunity to create a sense of place. In Humboldt County almost all franchises are represented and there was no hotel to check into and continue your redwood experience. We changed that!
- Murals in the lobby, pool area, and stairwells offer insight into Humboldt’s topography, ancient forests, lumber camps, and the daily life of the Native American Weott tribe.
- A vintage kayak, rods and reels, and Jeff’s grandfather’s flies on display give a nod to the Eel River – only 200 feet behind the hotel. For a few miles, you can follow it along the levy trail, also known as the Riverwalk.
- A cowhide-print area rug at the entrance reminds us of the local dairies and the cows found grazing nearby.
- The lobby wainscot is made from reclaimed redwood brought from a dismantled water tower just north of Arcata, a reference to the area’s lumber industry and history.

Payment Methods

- Cash Policy – We are happy to accept cash payments. We will require a $200 deposit. Upon check out your room will be inspected by a member of our team. That deposit will be returned in full if room has no damages, has not been smoked in and all room details are in place.
- We are happy to accept your Debit Card for transactions at this hotel. If a debit card is used, your account will be debited at check-in for the projected total amount of room and tax. These funds will not be available for use from your bank account. Should you check out earlier than expected or pay your charges by other means, the unused amount will be released from your debit card. However, depending on the card processor and your bank’s procedures, it could take up to 10 days for the unused amount to be credited back to your account. Please check with your banking institution for their policy on the use of debit cards. If there are any concerns paying with a debit card, we are happy to accept Credit Cards or Cash.
